GWM ORA 05 Debuts in Nepal: Premium Retro Electric SUV Starts at Rs. 46.99 Lakhs

VG Impex, the authorized distributor of Great Wall Motors (GWM) in Nepal, has launched the all-new ORA 05 electric SUV in the Nepali market. The model is available in two variants, priced at Rs. 46.99 lakhs and Rs. 51.99 lakhs.

The ORA 05 stands out from the growing crowd of electric SUVs with its distinctive retro-inspired design. Featuring signature round LED headlights, smooth body lines, and a clean rear profile, the SUV offers a unique blend of classic styling and modern EV technology.

Positioned as a competitor to models such as the BYD Atto 3 and MG S5 EV, the ORA 05 combines premium features, advanced safety technologies, and a practical driving range.

Retro-Futuristic Design

The ORA 05 adopts the brand’s well-known “Cat Family” design language, giving it a playful yet sophisticated appearance. Unlike conventional SUVs, the vehicle focuses on a softer and more rounded aesthetic while maintaining a strong road presence.

Measuring 4,471 mm in length with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, the ORA 05 offers compact SUV proportions while delivering a spacious cabin. It also features 200 mm of ground clearance, making it suitable for Nepal’s diverse road conditions.

Premium Cabin Experience

One of the strongest highlights of the ORA 05 is its premium interior. The SUV comes equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system powered by GWM’s Coffee OS platform.

Additional comfort and convenience features include:

  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Premium interior finishes
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Welcome seat function
  • Nine-speaker audio system

The cabin layout is designed to provide a modern and technology-focused driving experience.

Advanced Safety Features

Safety is another area where the ORA 05 aims to stand out. The SUV is equipped with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • 540-degree camera system

The top-spec variant also receives a LiDAR-based driver assistance system for enhanced safety and autonomous driving support.

The SUV further comes with seven airbags, reinforcing its safety credentials.

Powertrain and Range

Powering the ORA 05 is a 100 kW electric motor producing 260 Nm of peak torque. The vehicle is equipped with a 58.3 kWh LFP battery pack, delivering a WLTP-certified driving range of 435 kilometers on a single charge.

The combination of a practical range, efficient battery technology, and strong performance makes the ORA 05 a compelling option in Nepal’s increasingly competitive EV market.

The ORA 05 is more than just another electric SUV entering Nepal. It represents GWM’s effort to move the ORA brand beyond its hatchback image and establish a strong presence in the compact electric SUV segment.

With its eye-catching retro design, premium interior, advanced safety technologies, and competitive driving range, the ORA 05 has the potential to attract buyers looking for something different from the mainstream EV offerings currently available in Nepal.
