Toyota has updated its Innova EV concept and showcased it at the Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta. This electric version of the popular MPV was first revealed in 2022, but this year, it comes with new design tweaks and fresh details about its battery and power.
The Innova EV concept is powered by a 59.3kWh lithium-ion battery, producing 179hp and an impressive 700Nm of torque. It supports both AC and DC charging, but Toyota has not yet shared details about how far it can drive on a full charge.
Compared to the diesel-powered Innova Crysta, the new Innova EV looks different, especially at the front. It has:
- A closed-off grille with new LED headlights connected by a light strip
- A Toyota badge with a blue accent, symbolizing its electric nature
- Slimmer fog lights and a redesigned bumper
- Blue and grey decals on the sides
- Black roof and pillars
- New 16-inch alloy wheels
- Translucent, connected LED tail-lamps with blue borders and a ‘BEV’ badge on the boot
Inside, the Innova EV looks similar to the Innova Crysta but has some key changes:
- A flat floor for more space (since the battery is placed underneath)
- Dual-tone upholstery with electric blue accents
- No gear lever
- Large infotainment screen
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Digital driver display
- Captain seats in the second row
- Wireless charging and ambient lighting
Toyota has clarified that it has no immediate plans to start production of the Innova EV. However, this concept gives a glimpse of what a future electric Innova could look like.
