Dongfeng Forthing Friday EV Coming to Nepal in Few Weeks – Tough Competition Ahead in the Price War!

Nepal’s electric vehicle (EV) market is heating up as another new electric SUV is set to arrive in the next few weeks. Laxmi E-Mobility is bringing the Dongfeng Forthing Friday EV, a premium electric SUV that will be available in two variants.

The Friday EV is a compact mid-rise SUV with a length of 4,600 mm, width of 1,860 mm, and height of 1,680 mm, along with a 2,715 mm wheelbase. It features large 19-inch alloy wheels, giving it a bold and premium look.

Under the hood, it is powered by a 64.4 kWh battery, delivering a WLTP-certified range of 400 km on a full charge. Charging options include:

  • AC Charger (11 kW): Full charge in 5.5 hours
  • DC Fast Charger (120 kW): 30% to 80% charge in just 35 minutes

It runs on a 99 kW electric motor with a peak torque of 340 Nm, ensuring a smooth yet powerful performance.

Feature Highlights:

Luxury Interior: Pure leather seats, multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel
Technology: 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, 14.6-inch infotainment screen, 6-speaker music system
Comfort & Convenience: Heated, ventilated, and massage seats with memory function, wireless charger, electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof
Safety & ADAS: 6 airbags, ABS, traction control, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, emergency braking, and blind spot detection

Can It Survive Nepal’s Growing EV Price War?

The Forthing Friday EV will be competing directly with the likes of Tata Curvv EV, Nexon K3 EV, MG S5 EV, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.

Its success in the market will largely depend on pricing. If the SUV launches under NPR 50 lakhs, it could be a strong contender. However, if priced above NPR 50 lakhs, it might face a tough challenge, especially since the MG S5 EV recently launched in Nepal with a very competitive starting price of NPR 44 lakhs.

With fierce competition and a growing number of options in the premium EV segment, the price war among EVs in Nepal is about to get even more intense!

Stay tuned for the official launch and pricing details in the coming weeks!
