The Gen 3 scooters introduce several groundbreaking features:

  • Chain Drive System: Replacing the belt drive used in previous models, the new chain drive with pre-lubricated O-rings is designed to last twice as long, ensuring durability and reduced maintenance.
  • Patented ‘Brake by Wire’ Technology: A standout innovation, this system uses sensors on the brake lever to balance brake pad wear and motor resistance. It enhances efficiency by increasing the scooter’s range by 15% and doubling the lifespan of brake pads. Aggarwal, who claims co-invention of this technology, holds the patent for it.
  • Regenerative Braking: The motor regenerates electricity during braking, further boosting energy efficiency and extending the scooter’s range.
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS): Every Gen 3 scooter is equipped with ABS for improved safety, ensuring better control during sudden stops.

Compared to previous generations, the Gen 3 scooters deliver significant improvements:

  • A 31% reduction in manufacturing costs , making them more affordable without compromising quality.
  • A 10% increase in energy efficiency , enabling longer rides on a single charge.
  • A 53% increase in peak power , ensuring superior performance and acceleration.

The flagship S1 Pro+ model, featuring Ola’s in-house Bharat Cell battery, boasts an impressive range of 320 km and a top speed of 141 km/h, making it one of the most capable electric scooters in its category.

Ola Electric has aggressively expanded its retail and service network in India, growing from 800 stores in November 2024 to an impressive 4,000 by December 2024. Aggarwal credited this growth to increased consumer acceptance of Ola’s service model and strong government support for EV manufacturers.

Orders for the Gen 3 scooters are now open, with deliveries set to begin in mid-February. The S1 Pro+ featuring Bharat Cells will be available for delivery starting April 2025. Additionally, Ola has announced the launch of its new Roadster X motorbike on February 5, 2025, further expanding its product portfolio.

To clear existing inventory, Ola is offering temporary price reductions on its Gen 2 scooters for the next seven days. These models will continue to be available alongside the Gen 3 lineup, providing customers with multiple options to choose from.

With its Gen 3 electric scooters, Ola Electric has raised the bar in the EV market, combining advanced technology, affordability, and sustainability. The company’s focus on innovation, coupled with its rapidly expanding retail network, positions it as a formidable player in the race toward electrified mobility. As orders roll in and deliveries begin, the Gen 3 scooters are poised to redefine urban commuting in India.
