CG Motors is set to launch its new electric hatchback, the Avon UT, in Nepal right after Dashain. The company also plans to showcase the car at the upcoming NADA Auto Show 2025.
Earlier, the hatchback faced delays due to border disruptions between China and Nepal. Adding to the setback, CG’s state-of-the-art Thapathali showroom—damaged during the Gen-Z movement protests—caused a slight delay in the car’s public release. Now, the Avon UT is finally ready to enter the market during the festive season.

Positioned Against BYD Dolphin
The Avon UT is one of GAC’s most popular hatchbacks in China, and in Nepal, it is expected to compete directly with the BYD Dolphin. Interestingly, in the Chinese market, the UT is priced around USD 1,350 less than the Dolphin, making it a more affordable alternative in its segment.
Dimensions and Design
The Avon UT stands out as a perfectly sized hatchback with modern styling cues:
- Length: 4,270 mm
- Width: 1,850 mm
- Height: 1,575 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,750 mm
- Wheels: 17-inch alloy wheels
The hatchback features a long wheelbase, flush door handles, smooth curves, and an oval-shaped profile. The striking front grille design houses the charging port neatly on the right front fender. Distinctive headlamp and fog lamp styling, along with a large air intake, roof spoiler, and aerodynamic body panels, give it a sporty and futuristic appearance.
Battery and Range
Under the hood, the Avon UT is powered by a 44 kWh LFP battery manufactured by CATL, the world’s largest battery maker. On a single charge, it offers a range of around 340 km. The EV is equipped with a 100 kW electric motor, delivering a balance of efficiency and performance.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Avon UT comes with a premium setup featuring:
- Large infotainment system
- Two-spoke steering wheel
- Wireless charger
- Digital instrument cluster
Safety has also been prioritized, with no compromises made on essential protective features.
Expected Price in Nepal
The Avon UT electric hatchback is expected to start at around NPR 35 lakhs, making it one of the most competitively priced EVs in its class.
