Nepal witnessed a glimpse of the future at the NADA Auto Show 2025 with the unveiling of the Deepal eVTOL, the country’s first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flying taxi. The futuristic vehicle quickly became the show’s highlight, drawing large crowds and generating significant excitement.
The display marks a milestone for MAW Vriddhi Autocorp, making it the first company in Nepal to publicly showcase a flying car and offering visitors a firsthand look at the next era of urban mobility.
The Deepal eVTOL combines electric propulsion, vertical take-off and landing capabilities, and advanced safety systems, aiming to redefine personal and urban transportation. While flying vehicles have long been considered futuristic concepts, the Deepal eVTOL demonstrates how such technology is moving closer to commercial and public use.
The technology is the result of a strategic partnership between Urban Air Mobility pioneer EHang and Changan Automobile, formalized on December 21, 2024. The collaboration focuses on the research, development, production, sales, and operation of next-generation flying vehicles, including eVTOL aircraft and amphibious air-land mobility solutions.
Changan brings its R&D expertise, mature supply chain, and global market reach, while EHang contributes its leadership in autonomous flying technology, having launched the world’s first autonomous passenger-carrying eVTOL. Together, the partnership aims to make eVTOLs accessible to a wider audience, moving beyond luxury gadgets for the few.
The Deepal eVTOL at NADA 2025 reflects Nepal’s growing engagement with next-generation urban mobility solutions, giving attendees a chance to experience technologies that could transform transportation in the near future.
