Dongfeng Nammi-06 Unveiled in China, Set to Ride on Nammi-01’s Success in Nepal

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Dongfeng Nammi has officially launched its second model, the all-electric compact SUV Nammi-06, in China. This exciting development comes on the heels of the remarkable success of the brand’s first offering in Nepal, the Nammi-01 hatchback, which has reportedly sold over 450 units, establishing a strong foundation for Dongfeng in the Nepali EV market.

The Nammi-06 presents a distinct design language compared to its smaller sibling, embracing a more assertive, boxy, and angular aesthetic. Measuring 4306 mm in length, 1868 mm in width, and 1645 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2715 mm, the compact SUV aims to offer both maneuverability and interior space.

One of the standout features of the Nammi-06 is its innovative split tailgate design, a feature typically found in luxury SUVs, offering enhanced practicality and versatility for users. The lower section of the tailgate can reportedly support up to 150 kg, potentially serving as convenient seating for outdoor activities. The vehicle also boasts a thoughtfully designed trunk with a layered storage system.

Inside, the Nammi-06 emphasizes a cozy and comfortable ambiance with a warm two-tone color scheme and extensive use of soft-touch materials. The symmetrical dashboard design facilitates the production of both left-hand and right-hand drive versions, paving the way for its introduction in markets like Nepal. Notable interior features include a 50-watt wireless charging pad, ample storage solutions, ventilated and heated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Nammi-06 is powered by a 135-kilowatt single electric motor. While the exact battery specifications are yet to be fully disclosed, the company highlights the inclusion of 3C ultra-fast charging technology. This impressive feature allows for approximately 100 kilometers of range with just a 5-minute charge, and a charge from 30% to 80% takes a mere 18 minutes.

Given its features and expected competitive pricing (rumored to be under 100,000 yuan in China), the Dongfeng Nammi-06 is poised to compete in the popular compact SUV segment. The existing success of the Nammi-01 in Nepal is expected to generate significant interest in this new model, offering Nepali consumers a more spacious and versatile electric vehicle option from a trusted brand.

While the official launch date for Nepal is yet to be announced, anticipation is building within the Nepali EV community. The Nammi-06’s blend of practicality, modern features, and the brand’s established presence in the country suggest it could be a significant contender in the burgeoning Nepali electric vehicle market.
