BYD Atto-2 Launched in Europe, Expected to Arrive in Nepal Soon

BYD has officially launched its new electric SUV, the Atto-2, in Europe. The compact electric SUV made its European debut at the Brussels Motor Show last month and is now arriving in overseas markets. BYD describes this launch as “opening a new chapter in green travel.”

During a press conference, BYD’s Executive Vice President, Stella Li, emphasized that the smaller B-SUV segment is “critical” in Europe, and the Atto-2 is expected to attract a large number of customers. The model features BYD’s Blade Battery technology and is built on the e-Platform 3.0 architecture, designed to optimize space and performance. Li also noted that its compact design makes it ideal for navigating tight European streets.

In Europe, the Atto-2 is available in two variants: Active and Boost. Both models come equipped with modern features, including an 8.8-inch driver display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a panoramic sunroof, ergonomic seats, and an advanced driving assistance system (ADAS).

The Active model features a 10.1-inch rotating smart infotainment screen, while the Boost trim offers an upgraded 12.8-inch screen. Additional upgrades in the Boost model include a heated steering wheel and seats, an 8-speaker premium sound system, front parking radars, and a 360-degree camera system.

The Atto-2 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, which enhances interior space by using a compact battery design. It offers up to 1,340 liters of luggage space when the rear seats are folded.

The dimensions of the Atto-2 are:

  • Length: 4,310 mm
  • Width: 1,830 mm
  • Height: 1,675 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,620 mm

For comparison, the Volvo EX30 measures 4,233 mm in length, 1,838 mm in width, and 1,550 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Despite being slightly smaller, the Atto-2 offers a spacious and practical interior.

The Atto-2 is powered by a 45.12 kWh Blade Battery and a 130 kW front-mounted motor, delivering 174 horsepower and 290 Nm torque. It supports DC fast charging up to 65 kW and AC charging up to 11 kW.

The Atto-2 has a WLTP range of 312 km, whereas the Volvo EX30 offers a higher range of 476 km.

Possible Launch in Nepal

BYD electric vehicles have gained significant popularity in Nepal. With the success of the Atto-3, the Atto-2 is highly likely to be introduced in the Nepali market soon. Given its compact size, modern features, and competitive pricing, the Atto-2 could be an appealing option for Nepali EV buyers looking for a practical and affordable electric SUV.
