The electric version of the popular Renault Kwid hatchback has arrived in Nepal. This Kwid EV is manufactured in China by the French car company Renault.
Advance Automobiles, the official dealer for Renault in Nepal, has brought this electric hatchback to the country. The petrol version of the Kwid was first introduced in the Nepali market in 2018 and gained significant popularity.
While Advance Automobiles hasn’t yet released specific details about the features of the Nepali Kwid EV, it’s highly likely that it will come with a 33 kW peak power motor, similar to the international version. This motor produces 125 Nm of torque.
The Kwid EV currently in Nepal features a design similar to its petrol counterpart and is equipped with a 26.6 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery. This battery offers a claimed range of up to 351 kilometers according to CLTC testing standards.
Currently, the Kwid EV is undergoing testing in the Nepali market, and its official sale is expected to begin sometime later. If launched soon, it will directly compete with models like the Tata Tiago EV, Dongfeng Nammi, and Wuling Bingo.
It remains to be seen whether the Kwid EV will replicate the initial success of its petrol version in attracting Nepali consumers. However, given that modern EVs are typically well-equipped with features, it’s expected that the Kwid EV will also come loaded with appealing features.
The Kwid EV is already being sold in China and European markets, and it has reportedly been performing well in terms of sales in Europe.
